Continuing Education Units for Nurses: Home

Use Ascension Wisconsin Library Services for your nursing CEU requirements!

The state of Wisconsin does not require Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEU) for professional nurses’ license renewals but some Ascension hospitals do require them for professional development. Ascension Wisconsin Library Services has print and electronic resources available for our nurses who need CEUs.

EBSCO Cinahl (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) is an index of English-language and selected other-language journal articles about nursing, allied health, biomedicine and healthcare.

CINAHL FT (EBSCO)   OR

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

Type in DE "CONTINUING education units" in the search box will give you articles with CEUs but CE Modules, like the ones in CINAHLFull Text, are not available. DE is the field code for a subject search in this database.

PubMed does not have a filter for education credits in its database.

An example of getting CEUs directly from a journal in PubMed:

The American Journal of Nursing adds CE in front of the test that corresponds to CEU articles. Use the Advanced Search option, and then select Title from the drop-down menu. Type CE into the title search box.

Now limit the list by year and select Nursing journals under Journal Categories in the left, vertical navigation.
